Monica Elisabeth Jurkowitsch July 05,1959 – May 24, 2026
Monica Jurkowitsch, age 66, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 24, 2026, at 6:15 a.m.,
in the hospital after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Three weeks after losing her
mother Elisabeth Jurkowitsch, Monica dedicated her life to the sole caretaker of her mother
who battled Alzheimer’s and dementia for 25 years. Monica showed incredible strength and
love with the care she gave to her mother every day.
Monica was born in Ridgewood New York and moved to Selden New York to be closer to her
nephew Daniel and niece Mary. She lived with her mom and the two had an amazing mother
daughter bond. Monica worked in the air conditioning and heating industry and was a problem
solver. She treated workers and customers with great care. She retired at 64 years old to care
for her mother who needed full care. She retired from Flynn Aire and remained friends with
many people from the company. She had a best friend Barbara who she met while working.
Barbara was a great friend and was by her side while her month-long hospital stays. Monica
childhood friend Jeannie has been praying for her daily.
Monica loved Elvis Presley, Billy Joel and Donny Osmond. Her favorite thing in the world was
dolphins and she collect things with dolphins. I can just image her meeting Elvis in heaven and
all her friends that have passed before her. What a welcoming party it brings a smile to our
faces for sure. Monica had a heart of gold and she loved big.
Monica had a deep love for animals. Her beloved dog, Roxy, who passed away just a few
months ago, was her constant companion and rarely left her side and her mother’s. She also
cared for a stray cat she lovingly named Bootsie, who was part of her life for over 12 years.
Monica was known for her kind and giving heart. Monica loved her nephew Daniel and niece
Mary and spoiled them all their lives. She was a proud Aunt. She was a devoted and loving
sister to Anita Spreitzer who lives in Kentucky. It was Monica dream to live in Kentucky to enjoy
new adventures with her sister.
Monica was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Anita Spreitzer, and
her brother, Arthur Jurkowitsch. Her niece Mary Jurkowitsch and nephew Daniel Jurkowitsch
and wife Lauren; and her nephew children, Jake, Cade, and Callie Jurkowitsch. She is also
survived by her cousins, June D’Antoni, Joseph and Francis Reiner.
Monica will be cremated and her ashes will be joining her sister in Kentucky. Her wishes are to
be spread in virous places in Kentucky to be freed. Monica will be in our hearts forever; she
touched so many lives in her life time with her amazing generous big heart. In lieu of flowers,
the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Paws 4 the Cause, Inc. (animal
rescue) at www.paws4thecause.com or 859-962-8256 For the love she had in her heart for
animals.
