Marie passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Brightview Port Jefferson, with her loving husband of 18 years, Stephen Joseph Sikorski, holding her hand in her final moments.
Born on September 7, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Marie was the daughter of the late Anthony Puma and Joanna (DiGiralamo) Puma.
An artist in every sense of the word, Marie filled her life with beauty and creativity. She was both an actress and a singer, appearing in films including The Godfather, The Godfather Part III, Rocket Gibraltar, A Question of Honor, and Strikeforce. She also shared her gifts with her parish community as a lector for many years at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church in Shoreham, NY, where her distinctive voice left a lasting impression on all who heard her.
Marie was an avid animal lover and Scrabble enthusiast, with a brilliant mind and a vibrant spirit. She created a beautiful life for her two daughters and grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Abu.” Bold, exquisite, and larger than life, she loved bravely and loudly. She devoted the last two decades of her life entirely to her husband, daughters, son-in-law, and four beloved grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her husband, Stephen Joseph Sikorski of Port Jefferson, NY; her daughters, Jennifer Anne (Hodess) Gonzalez of Middle Island, NY, and Jessica Leigh (Hodess) Nichols of Salisbury, MD; her son-in-law, Jordan Nichols; and her cherished grandchildren, Isabella Marie Gonzalez, Iliana Stella Gonzalez, Luca James Nichols, and Leila Grace Nichols.
She is also lovingly survived by her cousins: Geraldine (Git) Pfeuffer and Michael Coppola of Florida, and Lisa (LaBarca) Roxburgh of Pennsylvania.
