Lawrence T. Miller, of Selden, New York, passed away suddenly on June 19, 2026, at the age of 77.
Son of the late Thomas and Josephine Miller (Lopusznick), he was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Phyllis (Triolo), his cherished daughter Joanne Wnek, his parents, and his brother Robert.
He is survived by his loving son Christopher L. Miller (Jaime), and his two grandchildren, Christopher Thomas and Sophie Rose. He is also survived by his loving in-laws Anna and Ralph Munson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He bravely served in the US Army in Vietnam as a Radio Operator, and thereafter had a long and hard-earned career with Consolidated Edison, retiring in 2012.
He loved watching his NY Mets and NY Knicks, the latter who managed to thrill him once again by winning a championship shortly before his passing. This was their first championship since he was 24 years old.
Fishing was a favored past time. From bringing his young family on boat and fishing trips to his fishing trips in retirement, he had the superhuman patience to wait for that one fish bite that would win him the biggest fish contest, which tended to always happen after his son had long given up.
Interestingly, as a 21 year old in the early morning of July 4, 1970, he was aboard a fishing party boat called the Tampa III of Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn when it was struck by the freighter Mormacglen in the fog and foundered in Lower New York Bay. 49 of the 50 fishermen aboard survived, including him of course, and he was returned to the dock by the Coast Guard, to the great relief of his worried parents who gathered among the large crowd to wait.
