Lawrence Blatt, 91, a longtime resident of Farmingville, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday,
December 26, 2025, at Stony Brook Hospital following complications from pneumonia.
Born and raised in Fulton Run, Pennsylvania, Lawrence was one of eleven children
born to William and Harriet Blatt. After graduating from high school, he proudly
served in the United States Army, with his final assignment in Queens, New York. It
was there that he met Ann (nee Cooney), the love of his life, with whom he shared
43 devoted years of marriage. Together they raised two children, Lawrence and Ann.
Lawrence retired after 30 years of dedicated service with the Long Island Lighting Company.
Together, he and Ann enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Lawrence was
also deeply committed to his community, volunteering as a fireman with both the Brentwood and
Farmingville Fire Departments.
Bowling was a lifelong passion, and he remained competitively active well into his late 80’s. He was
a strong, quiet man who showed his love through his actions and unwavering presence.
Lawrence is survived by his son, Lawrence, and his wife Leona of Selden, New York; and his
daughter, Ann, and her husband Gerald of DeLand, Florida. He was the proud grandfather of Brian,
Christopher, Lorianne, and Suzanne, and great-grandfather to Isabella, Abigail, and Matthew.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
