Edward Reynolds, Community Leader and Brookhaven Town Councilman passed away on August 8th, 2018 at the age of 83. After moving from the Bronx to Selden in 1966 he quickly got involved in community activities. He was an active member and president of the Stagecoach Elementary School PTA, President of the Selden Civic Association, Boy Scout Troop Leader, Chief Umpire for the Middle Country Central School District (MCCSD) little league and member of the MCCSD School Board for 21 years including 12 as President. He started a popular roller skating program in the school district in the 1970's providing children and teenagers a safe place to go on weekends and meet friends. Reynolds was elected to the Brookhaven Town Council in 1977 where he was admired by members of both parties for his honesty and integrity while always putting the community interests first. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1978 after 22 years as a Master Sergeant serving on both active duty and the Reserves and he retired from State Farm after 27 years as an insurance adjuster. He also worked for the Rogers, Cartier law firm in Patchogue. He is survived by his wife Margaret after 58 years of marriage, his four children Elizabeth Ann, Christopher, Lee and Carolyn (James Fay), six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
